It has been a couple of months since my hospitalization from a Relapsing Polychondritis flare. During my hospitalization, the doctors tried to combat my Relapsing Polychondritis with IV steroids and steroid injections into my neck inflammation.
The continuation of my Relapsing Polychondritis medical treatment after my hospital discharge was a sufficient increase in my daily oral steroids, several additional steroid injections and a soft neck brace to stabilize my neck.

What Is Flector Patch?
Pfizer is the manufacturer of the FLECTOR Patch.
The Flector Patch is the only prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) patch for acute pain due to minor strains, sprains, and bruises.
The Flector Patch is:
- Is not a narcotic
- Easy to use
- No mess
- User Friendly
- Last 12 hours
- Flector Patch contains Diclofenac, an NSAID that relieves both inflammation and pain
My pain management doctor prescribed Flector Patch to help stop my painful neck inflammation.
Flector Patch can be cut into different size strips. Being able to cut the Flector Patch makes them user-friendly and to seem more effective.
Thankfully, the Flector adhesive strips are helpful. The Flector strips are not the cure all but I have noticed the Flector Patch decreases my throbbing neck pain.
My HypoGal body appears to be finally cycling through this last Relapsing Polychondritis flare.
Flu Shot
My Relapsing Polychondritis flare appears to be triggered by the flu shot. I do not have proof or data that confirms my suspicion. However, I believe my Relapsing Polychondritis flare is more than a coincidence.
I spoke to my Internist about the flu shot and my Relapsing Polychondritis. My doctor’s reaction “your Relapsing Polychondritis flare could have been from the flu shot.”
My doctor went on to tell me that when he was in medical school they were told not to give the flu shots to people with autoimmune diseases.
However, as time moved forward the medical field decided that people with autoimmune diseases should have the flu shot. The adverse side effects from the flu shot were outweighed by the risk of the flu.
After my experience with the Flu Shot and my Relapsing Polychondritis flare, I went to Dr. Google and found numerous medical articles that link the flu shot to autoimmune diseases. The links to these articles are in the Resources area at the bottom of this post.
The more articles I read about the flu shot and autoimmune flares I am not sure about the flu shot next year.
